About NISHKAM SEWA BHARTI TRUST, JALANDHAR
"NISHKAM SEWA BHARTI TRUST" was initiated by, Dr Ravinder Verma Otorhinolaryngologist (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon Specialist). It is a non-political/ non-religious charitable organization.
The purpose of the Charity is to unite all the efforts directed at facilitating the service in the area of education, health, sports in and around Jalandhar in Punjab state. The service activities are carried out irrespective of caste/creed/religion for the poor, have-nots and the needy. It is managed by a group of philanthropists and members of the board of trustees.
Message from The President:
Firstly, following on an idea proposed by my colleagues, I decided to start Charitables, which is going to coordinate all the efforts to alleviate this unfortunate situation.
Secondly, I will try to initiate and coordinate the efforts of the local service clubs like Rotary/Lions in establishing and fulfiling the projects dedicated to the same goal.
Thirdly, through this and another web-sites and other forms of communication an appeal is being made to the all to donate old and new but functioning instruments, textbooks and other materials, money etc, to this worthy cause.

Nishkam Sewa Bharti Trust, Jalandhar, is a non-political, non-profitable service oriented charitable organisation. It is registered with the "Registrar of Firms & Societies" vide certificate No: 613 dated: 24 Jan, 1992. It is registered under Income Tax Act 1961 u/s 12-A vide No: JUDL/Trust/21-N/6154 & U/S 80 –G of Income Tax act 1961 vide Income Tax Commissioner letter No: JUDL/Trust/1289.
Needless to innumerate the aims and objects of the trust - NISHKAM (SELFLESS), S(Service) E(Education) W(Welfare) A(Action). All the trustees of the trust (incl. Lawyers, Doctors, CA's, Businessmen) are well known in the field of Social service and are selfless workers.
In the short span of its existence, trust has achieved various landmarks:-
A) Education:
- Trust is awarding students scholarships to the poor, needy and intelligent student every year from various Schools and Colleges irrespective of their caste and creed, religion, place or state.
- Trust has organized 25 such annual functions, till 2019, to award scholarships to these students- since May,1993. The trust has so far distributed scholarships worth in, Rs. 5 million to more than 5000 students.
- Applications for the award of scholarships are invited from the students through Newspapers as advertisement and news items in English, Hindi and Punjabi dailies. Application duly recommended by the head of the institutions are scrutinized by a committee comprising of an educationist (a principal of a college, school), an administrator (an I.P.S./I.A.S./I.R.S.) and a member of the trust. This committee gives their recommendations for the award of scholarships to the students.
- Trust is always ready to help the students for all their problems. The trust provided School/College books/ note books/ Shoes/ Chappals /Sweaters and school dresses to a number of Students in the slums and semi urban areas of Jalandhar.
- Special stipends are also available with the trust to be given to students in case of need in emergency.
- Full fees are being paid by the trust for the few selected poor and handicapped students.
B) Medical Care:
To start its crusade against diseases, trust started a Free Charitable Dispensary in the name and style of DR. JATINDER ARORA MEMORIAL CHARITABLE DISPENSARY in Ranjit Nagar, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar in August 1995.Two Medical Officers and a team of Specialists including Eye, E.N.T., Gynae & Obs., Medical specialist, Children Specialist, Dental surgeon provided health care to the patients, free of cost. Free medicines dispensed to all the patients.

- To overcome the shortage of space at Ranjit Nagar Dispensary, trust acquired a building in New Ashok Nagar, Jalandhar in 2006. This dispensary was inaugurated by MR. Manoranjan Kalia, the then health Minister, Punjab. Apart from medical officer, it houses an ultramodern, sate of the art Physiotherapy unit headed by experienced physiotherapist. The physiotherapy unit was sponsored by M/s Kapson Industries Ltd. Jalandhar in the sweet and everlasting memory of their mother Smt. Krishna Wanti Sehgal. It has all the latest equipment used in physiotherapy. This building also houses a dental unit donated by Sh. Harinder Chadha. A mobile X-Ray unit donated by the family of Sh. D. N. Mehra, our member trustee.
- Trust is running a Charitable fully automated clinical laboratory at the Dispensary on No profit No Loss basis. All clinical lab tests are done with computerized equipments.
C) Services:
- Trust provided all the expenses in the occasion of the marriage of the poor girls. Clothing’s, household utensils, sewing machines and other items are handed over to the bride. The BARAT (Marriage party) is provided with breakfast and lunch on the trust expenses. The trust has earmarked separate funds for such activities.
- Trust provides full school/college fees to very poor students.
- Trust provides books and stationary to the needy and poor students.

Our Vision/ Future Plans
- It has been observed by the trustees who have a long standing in the field of service to the Humanity-Our Senior Citizens and Orphans are in a state of neglect. The concept of unit family system, a recent trend in our society has further added to their woes. Our senior citizens and Children need much more attention and care at that very age. This is the time their bodies cannot carry out their routine life actions. NISHKAM SEWA BHARTI TRUST has taken up this challenging project to construct an Old age home cum Orphanage. For this effort are going on at different stages to start this grand project. This project will have residential accommodation, kitchen and dining rooms, library, indoor and outdoor games facilities and a health centre.
- We plan to convert this Dispensary to a full-fledged multispecialty Hospital with indoor. outdoor, Modern Laboratory with State-of-the-art technology. This will provide health care to the poor and sick at a very nominal but affordable charges.
- The rural population of India is not getting proper medicine care and education, the trust has plans to introduce a mobile van to cater the needs of the rural population as for as possible at their doorsteps. This mobile van fitted with all the necessary equipment and managed by a team of trained medical professionals and paramedical staff will provide medical care to the needy.
